Project: The Parlor Trick Print Exchange was open and limited to 20 U.S. Printmakers who created all forms of hand-pulled prints from etchings to screen prints to linocuts. The theme for 2021 was “Home.”

After all the time we’ve spent at our house here in St. Pete, especially during the pandemic, I certainly had to include all the details that make up our messy and lovely little 700 sqft home. It's so much more than just a place to sleep, eat, & repeat: it's our art studio, pet paradise, overgrown garden, full-time restaurant, and so much more. Here are some of my favorite details:

• The pelican in the coffee represents St. Pete’s logo.
• The pothos plants that hang throughout our house.
• The egg & bacon smile, used both for my shop @breakfastfordinner.co and in my classroom.
• The orange symbolizes the mascot of my state.
• The random craft supplies, since well, our house doubles as a studio.
• And of course, our pets.

This was 9 individual layers, an edition of 12. I laughed at myself quite a bit as I hadn’t had much time to print in the past year, yet the moment I get an opportunity to… I create a lot of work for myself, hahaha. It was worth every moment.

It’s cluttered, it’s colorful, it’s small, and it represents everything that makes up HOME.

This print exchange is made possible by a DCA Art Fund Grant from Staten Island Arts, with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. To view the gallery, CLICK HERE!
