Project: “Exploration Through Time & Caffeine” is a seven-layer screenprint. The theme for this year was “Vessel,” and keeping similar to my submission last year, a coffee cup felt only right — except this year the cup represents how it is the vessel that holds the good bean juice taste like chocolate make me go fast!!!! Okay, kidding, but my cup contains my daily morning coffee that genuinely opens up the gates to all my thoughts & ideas to start my day.
The most fun part of this print is that the “steam” / “thought bubble” is printed with a transparency ink that I mixed, and depending on the way you hold it and get the light against it, it has an interesting visibility level to it. (Much like real steam!) 😉
As for the orange? Well, another little nod to my FL roots. (You may remember last year’s Pelican as a nod to our city, Saint Petersburg)
This exchange was open and limited to 50 U.S. Printmakers who created all forms of hand-pulled prints from etchings to screen prints to linocuts. The theme for 2022 was “Vessel.”
By definition, a vessel can be a craft for traveling on water, an airship, a hollow or concave utensil used for holding various contents, an artery, or a person regarded as a receiver of something. It can be used in a literal sense, a religious sense, a non-religious sense, a biological sense, a botanical sense, or any sense your mind conjures up! What is your vessel? What does your vessel hold?
This print exchange is made possible by a DCA Art Fund Grant from Staten Island Arts, with public funding from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. To view the gallery, CLICK HERE!
