Project: I like my coffee like I like my cats... BLACK!
Did you know that black cats are two-thirds less likely to get adopted? Talk about unacceptable, especially when black cats alone make up 33% of intakes.
After my childhood black cat, Lynx, passed away, I created this "Black Cat Brew" illustration of her based on a comment my husband said. It started off as just a way to release some emotions I was having over losing my favorite "All-Year Halloween Decoration" but then... nearly two months later... the local cat rescue to us, Friends of Strays in Saint Petersburg, FL, held a "Black Cat Friday" event where adoption fees would be waived for black cats! That was when we welcome our new black cat, Clementine, into our lives.
I decided to transform the original illustration into an enamel pin design. $1 of every pin sold is donated to our new favorite local rescue, Friends of Strays, to help support their mission to inspire compassion for all animals, provide shelter and humane care to homeless animals, and promote adoptions and responsible pet guardianship in our community.
